At their March 21 board meeting, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Sean Bishton as the new principal of Pelion High, effective July 1, 2023. Bishton served as the principal of Muller Road Middle School in Richland School District Two. In 2007, Bishton joined Richland Two to serve as a curriculum effectiveness specialist, collaborating with lead teachers and faculty to develop and implement curriculum to improve student academic achievement. He also served as an assistant principal before being promoted to principal. During his time as principal, MRMS was named a Schools to watch in 2019 and 2022, as well as an AVID School Site of Distinction. 

Bishton graduated from University of Cape Town, in Cape Town, South Africa, with a bachelor’s degree in primary education in 1988. In 2007, he graduated from Francis Marion University in Florence, S.C., with a Master of Education in instructional accommodations. He received an educational specialist degree in educational administration from Capella University in 2011.

A member of the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development and the South Carolina Association of School Administrators, Bishton was named the S.C. Music Educators Administrator of the Year.

Tracy began his educational career in 2000 as a physical education teacher and junior varsity football coach at Lexington High. In 2002, he moved to Barnwell High in Barnwell School District 45 to teach physical education and coach varsity football and junior varsity baseball. In 2004, he returned to Lexington One as a physical education teacher and varsity football and wrestling coach at Gilbert High.

Mr. Gooding earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from Newberry College and a Master of Education in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. He holds certifications in physical education, secondary administration and secondary supervision. He enjoys working with the students and staff and is looking forward to a successful school year!

Gregory Pittman

Gregory Pittman began his career in education in 2001. Prior to transitioning into administration in 2021, he spent 20 years as a high school and college choral director. Under his leadership, choirs consistently received Superior ratings at adjudicated festivals, and his students regularly earned placement in auditioned honor choirs throughout the Southeast. Mr. Pittman also served as President of the South Carolina Music Educators Association Choral Division.

In addition to his work as a choral conductor, Mr. Pittman has produced and directed music for theatrical productions including My Fair Lady; Les Misérables; You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown; and Little Shop of Horrors. He maintains an active performance schedule and has participated in choral residencies in Israel, England, and France.

Mr. Pittman holds degrees in music education, conducting, and educational administration and supervision. He is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, the National Association for Music Education, the South Carolina Association for School Administrators, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and the International Society for Technology in Education.

Mr. Pittman and his family are proud members of the Lexington One community. His children are graduates of Lexington School District One, and his wife is a teacher in the district. He is excited to join Pelion High School as Assistant Principal and looks forward to supporting students, staff, and the community.

A graduate of Lexington One Schools, Elizabeth was happy to begin teaching here in 2006. She spent the first 12 years of her career at Pelion Middle School as a Computer Teacher and Assistant Principal. She holds an undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina in Public Relations. Not long after graduating, Elizabeth pursued her passion for teaching with a Master's in Teaching and focused on Business Education.  After several years of teaching, she then pursued a Master's in Educational Administration.  Elizabeth has happily worked as an Assistant Principal since the completion of this degree in 2011. She continued her work as an Assistant Principal with a move to Lexington Middle in 2018. Mrs. Whiz became the Principal of White Knoll Elementary in 2021 and enjoys loving, learning, and leading the students of White Knoll Elementary. 

 Outside of school, Elizabeth is a member of the Lexington community, a wife, and a mom of three.  She is an avid learner, and shopper, and enjoys camping trips with her family.
